A cry for help went out across the Lakelands when a terrible mine collapse trapped many underneath Mourning Glory. Fortunately, many heeded the call and came prepared to brave the mines, hard hats in hand.
By Friday night, newcomers had reopened the entrance to the mines, supports were placed around various areas underground to stabilize the treacherous paths, and a few miners were rescued. A new ailment was discovered though- Gravelung disease. It seemed to affect the minds of those infected. Even a Gravelung filled pustule was discovered in the mines and had to be popped. It took quite a toll on those that entered the area to fix it, and more research will have to be done to find a cure.
While folks aided in rescue efforts, Raina of the Superior Trading Company came into town alongside Captain Jack of the Dreadrunners and Captian Davey of the Hollow Hounds. Raina explained that the pirate’s contracts with the STC were ending by the end of the month. Unfortunately, a contract renewal could not be made, and now the pirates may come back untethered by paperwork.
Sightings of Thralls, aptly nicknamed “Meat Men” were seen around town while the Trade progressed. Their appearance and subsequent autopsies proved to be extremely useful when it came to finding a way to defeat them. It seemed they had psi-tech implanted in their brains that allowed General Butcher to control them psionically, and allowed them to heal each other, rendering them almost unkillable. But, these could be removed and thus, the Thralls could be destroyed.
On top of the Thralls, the town still had to deal with attacks from regular Dominion soldiers. Luckily these battles allowed people to collect War Intel Cards, and submit them for various useful clues and items. Interrogations led to further information, such as the Dominion splintering into increasingly desperate groups centered around specific figureheads. Theoretically, if those figurehead are taken out, it might entirely collapse
All of this work led up to the battle against General Butcher, a grotesque and intimidating figure that could not be harmed until his Thralls were killed. Teddy Stirkovof the Red Alliance appeared to aid the fight and rally the town. Surprisingly, so did Minister General No.Vi of Calamity’s Cure and Raff of the Bullet Bag Brothers, though the latter was partially forced to appear. The fight was grueling, and those fighting even had to subdue a friend that had turned against them. But in the end, Mourning Glory won the day.
New threats are on the horizon. Professor Banting still walks Mourning Glory freely and unafraid, as he did on Friday night. A Dead Zone has appeared in a busy area, directly where General Butcher sank. Additionally, it’s been said that Curie Alexandria of the Dominion is on her way. No one knows what challenge she will bring to the town- and if the pirates will side with her or Mourning Glory.
