DR:MI July 2025 Event Content Warnings

Hello Drifters, Pointefolk, and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the intrigue and horror we’re throwing your way during this July trade!

Hello Drifters, Pointefolk, and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the games and gore we’re throwing your way during this July trade!

Dystopia Rising is by nature a horror and survival larp, and while we DO love to shock and scare your characters, we’d never want to do any actual mental or physical harm to our playerbase. Please remember it’s always okay to opt out of a scene and walk away, with no penalties or repercussions for you or your character. Player safety is first and foremost. If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!

Below are the elements to expect from this event.

  • Character Vs. Character Elements - This month involves games that pit players’ teams against each other. As such, there will be a level of CVC involved. This does not necessarily mean violent CVC, but could lead to it. Please communicate with each other and take actions in good faith, we’re all here to spend a weekend of play pretend in the woods! We suggest reading page 76 of the DR Live Players Guide for more information on CVC.

  • Darkness/The Unknown - Mercy Pointe uses lanterns to keep the darkness at bay-- and what lurks within it. Themes of what is lurking just out of sight will be prevalent this month.

  • Claustrophobia/Cramped Quarters - There will be a mod that will include crawling and squeezing through tight spaces. This will be advertised beforehand, and accommodations can be made if need be.

  • Violence/Gore - Mods may include simulated violence and gore. These may involve blood and/or body horror that may disturb players. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.

  • Large Scale Destruction - There will be “out-of-town” mods where players visit the ruins of destroyed towns in the surrounding area. These will deal with catastrophic events and death.

  • Water Splash Mod - There will be a water splash mod at 3:30 pm, which will be heavily advertised as such. YOU MAY GET WET!

  • Self Sacrifice - There will be one mod that involves potential self sacrifice in an act of heroism of an NPC. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, please exit the scene using the eyes down mechanic.

  • Fake Fire - There is an arsonist faction in town, as well as a mod having to do with putting out fire. There will be no real flames at this mod, but please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.

Please remember you can always OPT OUT of a scene using ‘Eyes Down’ - placing your hand over your brow and looking down to signal you are leaving a scene for any reason, no questions asked. You may also ask a guide on scene to help find you somewhere to decompress.

We encourage all players to use the OK Check-In system, even when not in an intense scene.

As a reminder, the OK Check-In system works as below:

  • Player 1 holds the OK hand gesture up to Player 2 (reminder- can be a PC or NPC).

  • Player 2 has three options:

    • Thumbs up - “All is good, I’m having a great time.” Continue with the scene.

    • Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - “I’m not sure.” Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

    • Thumbs down - “I’m not okay/I’m uncomfortable with this scene” - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

  • Based on Player 2’s response, Player 1 should do the following

    • Thumbs up - Continue with the scene.

    • Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

    • Thumbs down - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

  • Players are not expected to be therapists. We just ask that you show kindness to your fellow player and assist them in finding somewhere safe at the bare minimum. If there is an issue you need assistance with, Kendall is our Community Management Director

We will do our best to give content warnings before the modules these warnings pertain to. Please let us know at drmimercypointe@gmail.com if you have any questions and concerns.

With all that said, we can’t wait to bring you safe frights and terror this event! See you soon!

Get ready for a trade full of tactics and terror! We’re breaking down what to expect at DR:MI “Battlegrounds,” so any surprises are simply part of the story, and you, the player, are not left in the dark.

Battlement Day

Headed by Hope’s Hand, Battlement Day is a yearly tradition of military tactics, combat medics, and military logistics being practiced and trained within a settlement. The origins for this holiday come from Marigold Flowers deciding to create something joyous for the public that would in turn pull these strains into military training without their awareness. This holiday has members from all walks of life coming into settlements to train in combat maneuvers, skills, and running medic simulations. At the end, once the sun is about to start setting, a large capture the flag event is held.

The Teams

This year, The Orchard has challenged Hope’s Hand to see which faction is truly better when it comes to military prowess. PCs will be split into two even teams, one team supporting The Orchard and the other supporting Hope's Hand. This will be chosen at random, with PCs first split into tiers based on their XP levels, and then randomized to each team. This way, character builds won’t skew numbers to favor a faction. and each side has a fair chance to win the competition. You will know what team you’re on at check-in when you receive a bandana with the coordinating color. Blue is for Hope’s Hand and yellow is for The Orchard!

The Games

A series of games will be held by the various factions of Mercy Pointe. These will range from obstacle courses to water balloon fights, Jones Runs to games of tag. Playing these games will award the winning team with rewards and an Advancement upon the "War Map." Speaking of the “War Map”…

The war map

The War Map is where a team can use their hard-earned Advancements to move units across a specially designed game board. Each team will have 8 units at opposing starting points. The objective? Advance your Soldiers across the board to hold Advancement spaces, which will give your team extra Boons or give the other team extra Banes for the final game of Capture the Flag-- in which the winner takes all! More than one team can be on the same space before the final game of CTF, but only the team with the most Soldiers on the space gets those benefits. So choose your moves carefully!

Capture the flag

Capture the Flag is the final game within the Battlement Day festivities. The two teams will take their prospective flags to the two different sides of the town. The goal? Get the other side's flag down to the dock. As stated previously, based upon what spaces your team claimed upon the War Map, your team will have certain Boons or the opposing team will have a certain Bane. Whichever team wins Capture the Flag is the winner of Battlement Day!

what about the rewritten?

Last event, it was revealed that the saboteurs of the town were a group named the Rewritten. No one knows anything more though, like why they’re attacking the town. And can some war games really be more important than investigating further? Worry not-- you don’t think they’d miss out on some fun and games, do you?

traveling mysteries

There will be a collection of mods that deal with the county area surrounding Mercy Pointe. PCs will get the chance to learn more about the nearby towns and can uncover recent history-- maybe even something about the fallen town of Driftwood Dover.

So, are you ready for war? Grab your ticket for our July event!
