DR:MI September 2025 Event Content Warnings

Hello Drifters, Pointefolk, Mercynaries, and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the crime and corruption we’re throwing your way during this September trade!

Hello Drifters, Pointefolk, Mercynaries, and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of-game prepared for all of the crime and corruption we’re throwing your way during this September trade!

Dystopia Rising is by nature a horror and survival larp, and while we DO love to shock and scare your characters, we’d never want to do any actual mental or physical harm to our playerbase. Please remember it’s always okay to opt out of a scene and walk away, with no penalties or repercussions for you or your character. Player safety is first and foremost. If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!

Below are the elements to expect from this event.

  • Darkness/The Unknown - Mercy Pointe uses lanterns to keep the darkness at bay-- and what lurks within it. Themes of darkness and what is just out of sight will be featured in some mods.

  • Gambling - A mod will contain gambling games and discussions of gambling.

  • Violence/Gore - Mods may include simulated violence and gore. These may involve blood, intense combat, or body horror. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.

  • Criminals & Morality - With criminals on the loose, NPCs may attempt to steal, rob, and murder unsuspecting players. NPCs may bring up discussions involving morality and what makes a criminal.

  • Grief/Loss - Some NPCs will be seen at their breaking point during this event, and discussions themed around grief and loss may occur.

  • Experimentation - A mod will feature a gruesome medical experiment.

  • Drug Addiction - A player requested mod will deal with drug addiction and the ugly side of it. This mod will be made known so themes may be avoided if players choose to do so.

Please remember you can always OPT OUT of a scene using ‘Eyes Down’ - placing your hand over your brow and looking down to signal you are leaving a scene for any reason, no questions asked. You may also ask a guide on scene to help find you somewhere to decompress.

We encourage all players to use the OK Check-In system, even when not in an intense scene.

As a reminder, the OK Check-In system works as below:

  • Player 1 holds the OK hand gesture up to Player 2 (reminder- can be a PC or NPC).

  • Player 2 has three options:

    • Thumbs up - “All is good, I’m having a great time.” Continue with the scene.

    • Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - “I’m not sure.” Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

    • Thumbs down - “I’m not okay/I’m uncomfortable with this scene” - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

  • Based on Player 2’s response, Player 1 should do the following

    • Thumbs up - Continue with the scene.

    • Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

    • Thumbs down - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.

  • Players are not expected to be therapists. We just ask that you show kindness to your fellow player and assist them in finding somewhere safe at the bare minimum. If there is an issue you need assistance with, Kendall is our Community Management Director

We will do our best to give content warnings before the modules these warnings pertain to. Please let us know at drmimercypointe@gmail.com if you have any questions and concerns.

With all that said, we can’t wait to bring you safe frights and terror this event! See you soon!

September Event Breakdown

Get ready for a trade full of crime and corruption! We’re breaking down what to expect at DR:MI “Hostile Takeover,” so any surprises are simply part of the story, and you, the player, are not left in the dark.

Get ready for a trade full of hard choices and your favorite-- zombies! We’re breaking down what to expect at DR:MI “Moral Compass,” so any surprises are simply part of the story, and you, the player, are not left in the dark.

Allies and enemies

The Rewritten have begun a smear campaign across the Grand Tides area, placing Mercy Pointe and its citizens at the center of everything bad that has happened recently. If the players hope to win against the Rewritten, they will need any help that they can get.

Representatives of these different settlements will be around, both as familiar faces and new representatives, to discuss where their settlement stands in relation to Mercy Pointe. Some may need proof of the Rewritten’s involvement within the Chronicle, while some may believe the Drifters and Pointefolk, but be too scared to take up arms. It’s up to the players to bring these towns to their side.

The Chronicle: Special Edition

Secrets don’t make friends, but they do make good headlines. Keep an eye out for a very special edition of The Chronicle at this event, which NPCs will have to sell to those looking for juicy gossip. And remember-- there are no retractions.

Company B

With the fall of Fort Mayfield and the Rewritten sowing chaos around the Grand Tides area, a new faction will enter the playing field-- and they’re coming out swinging! Company B is here to support Mercy Pointe after the Horde, but their support comes with objections from a current faction. Players will have another big choice to make by the end of the event, one that will affect the faction politics of Mercy Pointe and its surrounding areas!

Bounty Board

With scattered criminals come bounties. A new “bounty board” will be created and public to all players to access and interact with. Criminals will be findable a few different ways: some will be able to be “tracked and lured” into town through player interaction, some will be hiding in plain sight on mods, and some may just wander into town. It is up to the players to be diligent and work together to complete these bounties. These will be dangerous and powerful people, preparation is recommended. Don’t worry if you don’t complete them all, these bounties will stay around past September!

So, will you fight for the truth?
