Hello Wastelanders! As previously done, we’re bringing you a content warning post, so you’re out-of-game prepared for all of the fast-paced action and horror we’re throwing your way during this March event!
Dystopia Rising is by nature a horror and survival larp, and while we DO love to shock and scare your characters, we’d never want to do any actual mental or physical harm to our playerbase. Please remember it’s always okay to opt out of a scene and walk away, with no penalties or repercussions for you or your character. Player safety is first and foremost. If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!
Below are the elements to expect from this event.
Gore/Violence - Mods may include described gore. These may involve body horror that may disturb players. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.
Claustrophobia - There may be scenes where your PC is described to be in a small and/or enclosed space.
Drowning - With this event taking place on a ship, there will be mods in the water. Mods may include threats of drowning or NPCs drowning.
Paranoia - This event is centered around not knowing who you can trust. Therefore, PCs may experience paranoia, or may be questioned by paranoid NPCs.

Thalassophobia - The setting of Shallow Trust takes place on the Lakeseas. There may be underwater mods that involve deep water, and the ship will be sailing over deep water.
Psychological Horror - You may encounter psychological aspects such as extreme fear, grief, and more. We encourage players to take a moment after intense scenes to decompress so that you can keep enjoying your game without extreme bleed.
Gaslighting/Lying - With themes of distrust occuring on board, you may find NPCs gaslighting or lying to PCs. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, please talk to your ST or eyes down out of the scene.
Please remember you can always OPT OUT of a scene using ‘Eyes Down’ - we just ask you to let your ST know that you need to leave, privately if that makes you more comfortable, and you can bow out, no questions asked.
We encourage all players to use the OK Check-In system, even when not in an intense scene.
As a reminder, the OK Check-In system online works as below:
Player 1 uses the OK emoji (👌), either on their own post or in parentheses to Player 2 (reminder- can be a PC or NPC).
Player 2 has three options:
Thumbs up emoji (👍) - “All is good, I’m having a great time.” Continue with the scene.
Question mark emoji (❓) - “I’m not sure.” Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a ST or staff to help.
Thumbs down emoji (👎) - “I’m not okay/I’m uncomfortable with this scene” - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a ST or staff to help.
Based on Player 2’s response, Player 1 should do the following

Question mark emoji (❓) - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Thumbs down emoji (👎) - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Remember that no combat CVC is allowed at online games. Period. (Pre-negotiated tussling between friends with no real mechanical consequences doesn’t count. For things like tense arguments, remember we can still use the OK check-in system online.)
Players are not expected to be therapists. We just ask that you show kindness to your fellow player and assist them in finding somewhere safe at the bare minimum. If there is an issue you need assistance with, Kendall is our Player Relations manager.
We will do our best to give content warnings before the modules these warnings pertain to. With all that said, we can’t wait to bring you safe frights and terror this event! See you soon!

What Happened Last Time: October 2023 Event Recap
With Nemesis season approaching, SAINTcorp™ put out a bold notice to the Lakelands that all Nemesi found practicing in Capital City and Coldwater would be detained and dealt with for disrupting peaceful society. Thus, Mourning Glory-- relatively free from SAINTcorp™’s influence-- became a reluctant refuge for nearby Nemesi looking to escape persecution.
In retaliation for what they saw as religious persecution, the local Nemesis group Rogue’s Gallery kidnapped C.O.O. Sloane’s wife, Tiffany, leaving Sloane desperate for help from Mourners. The trade started with a not-so-simple question: would locals help these frightening figures, or turn them in to meet an uncertain fate?
Friday night began with a group of Capital City refugees looking to move through Mourning Glory. A few stealthy citizens helped them find their checkpoint, hopefully misleading the nearby Venerated, 13, into believing that these refugees were not escaping Nemesi. Representatives from SAINTcorp™ later came out to hear product pitches from locals for their Rising Stars competition, with a winning pitch from Idakno.
Meanwhile, it was quite a night for feral Sempers. Flora, a friendly young person from Skyler’s Home for Wayward Sempers, was attacked and killed by Thrill Kills. Later, a couple of the mysterious Skyler’s friends brought in a feral ward for an exam, revealing the cause of some of their recent troubles– the pod systems seem to have been corrupted with Gravelung disease.
The night was highlighted by a visit from Lord Bane, offering an opportunity for a clue about Tiffany’s whereabouts. After many all out, bare knuckles, bloody brawls, two winners emerged- and were then beaten into bleed out by Lord Bane. They got their clue though, and awaited the next day for more death games and more clues.
Saturday began with a visit from Devoted Dead during Saturday Morning Cartoons. At first they seemed peaceful and performed a strange TV-like ritual, but quickly turned violent. Then it was time for a different TV ritual- the Rogue’s Gallery’s death games. First was “A Lesson in Unionization,” hosted by a clown named The Host. Players had to outbid each other to do ridiculous stunts– from giving up equipment to eating spicy bugs. The losing team was a lone clown, who took their death with pride. Together, the town received another clue about Tiffany.
The next game was “A Pound of Flesh,” with Catcrow as the host. To make up for the death of a harmless Nemesis, all participants were prompted to give up parts of themselves. The players were clever enough to ask Catcrow to donate the most lethal parts required, which they willingly gave, alongside a clue.
Hemlock led the next game, “Higher Learning,” which ended in an unfortunate accident. Three poor souls were poisoned after mistakenly eating Hemlock’s heart in an attempt to find the antidote. But, this did lead to the revelation that Tiffany had been taking a prescribed medicine at the behest of her wife– which some players found suspicious.
During the day, more Nemesi came to town looking for refuge, including a group of depressed Voorhees, a Ghost Ship sailor, a team of wrestling heels, and a dangerous follower of Carrie and Firestarter. Some were met with helping hands, while others met the Gravemind.
The final death game arrived in the form of a gaggle of Tiffanies- different Goonion members dressed as Tiffany, with the real one hidden among them. Townsfolk were tasked with using the clues they’d gathered so far to track down and choose the correct Tiffany out of the bunch. But of course, nothing Rogue’s Gallery does is so safe and simple. In this game of “Hide and Shriek,” the hunters themselves were also being hunted by Rogue’s Gallery cast members whose bomb collars would trigger at close proximity, taking them down alongside their prey. Thankfully, town quickly sussed out who the real Tiffany was. After some heartfelt hesitation about whether it was the right thing to do, they returned her safely to Sloane.
Later, what became of poor Father Maxwell was revealed. He’d been “promoted” to a Venerated, and now goes by “Twenty”, spelled as XX. After a brief departure from town that night, he returned with Rogue Prime’s green veined head. For better or worse, it seemed Rogue Prime was dead, and never coming back.
While Sundays in Mourning Glory are usually a day for relaxing, this trade’s end a final bout of drama with it. Mustang Ford revealed he was a part of the Rogue’s Gallery since his time with them after the Mal, and that he’d even helped kidnap Vic last year. He declared that he would take his father Maximillion’s head, and then disappeared, leaving his family shocked and distraught.
Now the town faces another holiday, but with a much different faith. What will the trade hold for them, as the veil between life and death thins? Silent be your night!

Gore - Mods may include simulated gore. These may involve body horror that may disturb players. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.
Torture- NPCs and/or PCs may be subject to fake torture. We will never actually put anyone at risk, and all scenes will be using the OK Check-In system to make sure everyone is having a safe and fun time.
Hallucinations- The veil is thin this time of year, and thus the Gravemind might affect your character’s mind in strange ways. They may see things that aren't actually there, or even interact with those things.
Fake Drug Use - Mourning Glory is home to many Local Drug Plot Cards. As such, there will be fake drug use and manufacturing seen at this event. We prohibit the use of all actual drugs and alcohol at our events.
Fire - There will be a scene involving fire and burning an item. No fighting will occur around or near a fire, per DR:MI’s safety rules. Staff will be handling anything going into the fire. The fire will be in an outdoor public space. If you have a fear of fire we suggest refraining from participating in the scene.
Psychological Horror - You may encounter psychological aspects such as extreme fear, gaslighting, paranoia, grief, and more. We encourage players to take a moment after intense scenes to decompress so that you can keep enjoying your game without extreme bleed.
Loss of Control- The Don’t Be Alone mechanics may cause your character to lose control of their actions, but only if you opt in. We will never force someone into an uncomfortable situation, and if you do not want to participate in that result of the mechanic, please talk to the Ops Guide or a Staff member.
Memory Loss - The Don’t Be Alone mechanics may cause your character to lose memories, but only if you opt in. We will never force someone to participate in something they are not comfortable with, and if you do not want to participate in that result of the mechanic, please talk to the Ops Guide or a Staff member.
Please remember you can always OPT OUT of a scene using ‘Eyes Down’ - placing your hand over your brow and looking down to signal you are leaving a scene for any reason, no questions asked. You may also ask a guide on scene to help find you somewhere to decompress.
We encourage all players to use the OK Check-In system, even when not in an intense scene.
As a reminder, the OK Check-In system works as below:

What Happened Last Time: September 2023 Event Recap
With the Dominion gone, vultures circled the carcass of Mourning Glory as it struggled to put itself back together again. On Friday night, new face and travelers worked together to rebuild a broken barrier and keep the Cult of the Silent safe from Raiders. More townsfolk worked their way through the sewers to flush out radioactive material left by the Dominion, creating a source for clean water. Mourning Glory was ready to put in the work to rebuild, but not everyone visiting had the same idea of what that looked like.

More townsfolk worked their way through the sewers to flush out radioactive material left by the Dominion, creating a source for clean water. Mourning Glory was ready to put in the work to rebuild, but not everyone visiting had the same idea of what that looked like.
Both SAINTcorp™ and Ford representatives made appearances that night, announcing a meeting would be happening between the two wasteland superpowers the next day. Sloane, CEO of SAINTcorp™ schmoozed with townsfolk, trying to convince them of SAINTcorp™’s kindness while Maxmillion Ford-- father of Allegro, Mustang, and Vic-- made his presence known in town. Another new face, Severin, asked individuals to take notes on the strange zed that were rumored to be on their way. On top of all this, feral Sempers appeared, talking about the care facility they came from and the mysterious Skyler.
Saturday morning started with the arrival of the Devoted Dead as they attacked the sleepy town. Those awake dispatched the unsettling zed, but there was more to come. Throughout the day, the town slowly rebuilt- a wartime minefield was cleared, the town’s surrounding water was cleansed, and the Silent were stopped from making a grave mistake. Abandoned bunkers were plundered as well, and those brave enough to search them found plenty of interesting things.
Meanwhile, others prepared for the town meeting, some being asked by the Ford’s themselves to have a seat at the table. After some tense negotiations punctuated by STC protesters, shots were fired at Maximillion Ford by a disgruntled Saltwise, and the meeting was drawn to a close. It was decided that SAINTcorp™ would create an office in Capital City while the settlement was restored, and in exchange made concessions about how they will operate their business in Mourning Glory.
A strange signal made its way into Mourning Glory, luring Kings and Queens Court faithful back to its source- a grisly scene. It seems that it may be connected to the Diva, a KQC with mysterious empathic abilities, who may be making an appearance soon in town with her “Farewell Tour.”
After a day of unsettling and deadly encounters, the true horde of Devoted Dead made their appearance. They were led by a frighteningly powerful robed zed, who they seemed to circle around in a frenzy. Those fighting slogged through the battle until they could defeat the zed’s apparent leader and take their head. It would seem this is not the last Mourning Glory will see of these undead.

Gore/Splatter Mods - Mods may include simulated gore. These may involve body horror that may disturb players. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time. Self-Inflicted Harm/Suicide - Scenes may involve characters or NPCs harming themselves or even committing suicide. We realize that players could be triggered by this, and would never want to make anyone feel unsafe. If you are uncomfortable with this aspect, you are of course able to opt-out of the scene, and we will announce when scenes may include this.
Faith Based Oppression - This month’s event involves themes of oppression of faith practices, good or bad. We realize this roleplay can mirror real life experiences and may create difficult scenes. Please remember that you may leave the scene if it becomes too uncomfortable or intense for you.
Dismemberment - PCs may encounter scenes with dismemberment already occurred, or where the PCs have to cause dismemberment using props. Again, we would never put PCs or NPCs in actual harmful situations.
Disease - NPCs and/or PCs may become infected with a disease. It is a major part of this month’s plot. Diseases involve coughing up blood, roleplaying malaise, and other social roleplay effects.

What Happened Last Time: August 2023 Event Recap
The final chapter had begun for Mourning Glory’s war against the Dominion.Only the most dedicated remained in the extremist Darwin cult, holding on to whatever remnants of power they could. Mourning Glory was ready to squash them- but Banting had one last deus ex machina in his pocket. Thanks to help from the Neighborly Association, the town found out that Banting was working on a powerful bioweapon, which had the power to wipe out the Greater Lakesea area. He planned on testing it the next day, right in the middle of town. Those opposed to Banting would have to move fast to stop him from finishing his research.
Friday night, a desperate battle was waged in the town center, sadly taking one brave soul’s infection. Folks also met a few of the Hollow Hounds’ Gorgers, who brought in a Dominion prisoner to torture and have a midnight snack on. Zed and worms attacked during the night, keeping everyone on their toes until they were too tired to stay up longer.
Saturday morning woke with a bang- almost literally! Bombs were left in the bunks, giving players little time to find and disarm them before they exploded. The town took the day to plan a course of action when Banting’s bioweapon dropped. They decided to meet at a second location in an attempt to defend against Dominion forces head on. And so they did, fighting off the almost feral Dominion soldiers. Three casualties were had on the townsfolk side, but Mourners could not rest after the arduous fight.
Throughout the day, whispers of a traitor in town grew stronger. Many folks were eyed, but the evidence against one was finally too damning. Salvage Ironhands was apprehended and questioned, easily admitting that he was indeed helping Banting and the Dominion. He was killed, but those who followed him into the Gravemind would have no further answers. Banting snatched him Salvage out of the jaws of death, telling him “there is more work to be done.”
More battles and trials ensued throughout the evening. A grueling trench war was fought, a desperate Dominion bomber was convinced to release a hostage, and a group assisted the newly formed Greater Lakesea Medical Guild to perform a new procedure which would make progress on healing the Dead Zones. All of this led up to the final showdown with Banting.
The town was split into two groups. One group, Team A, was to enter the dangerous labyrinth that was Banting’s workshop and reach him on its lowest level. The other, Team B, had to complete timed puzzles to open airlocks, allowing for team A to move deeper down the building. The teams worked together seamlessly– only to find one last obstacle between them and the man they’d come here to kill. Salvage, newly enhanced into a part-zed abomination, took his final stand to ensure that his town was truly strong enough to withstand the trials to come. Team A fought against Salvage’s anti-aberrant attacks until he was killed once and for all, but not before letting everyone know with his last words that they had made him very proud.
After a brief moment, the team continued on to find Banting. He was discovered in his workshop, where attempted to stave off attacks with a modified Master Biogenetics bubble. It was quickly discovered that this bubble did nothing to protect him from gunfire. Banting died with little grace in his workshop, surrounded by his enemies.
Knowing that Banting had used his minions to give himself plenty of Infection to spare, the Silent offered their assistance in performing a ritual that would trap Banting in a location of the town’s choosing, so that his spirit could be broken and he would never return. Hozannah gathered the exhausted townsfolk before the doors to the morgue and together, they channeled their psionic energies to plead with the Grave to bring him forth.
Banting emerged in a sorry state, screaming in rage and sorrow for all the wrongs he believed he’d been put through. Echoes lurked not far behind, eager to pull him back into the Grave and rip his body apart. This cycle repeated again and again, as members of the town were able to air their righteous anger. But what ended it all was not hate– but offering him a token from his past, and the chance to ask forgiveness of Carlisle, who’d died believing Banting deserved another chance.
Banting repented, not to the world or the Silent, but to Carlisle– though it’ll never be known if he truly meant his words.
So ended the Dominion war. After putting Salvage’s risen zed to rest, a bonfire with the Silent carried on into the night, and on Sunday, townsfolk talked of the new future without the Dominion in it.

What Happened Last Time: July 2023 Event
After a gruesome attack by the Reeve on Mourning Glory in June, rumors abounded in the Lakelands that the Reeve was sailing back to Bad Axe, a rowdy pirate port town. Even worse, the Dominion navy was said to be gathering their forces to join her there. This presented an opportunity to those opposing the Dominion though-- wipe out their forces here, and remove their stranglehold on the Lakesea.
Mourners flocked to Bad Axe, where they found a loud and lawless town featuring a large tavern and casino, a tattoo shop, a seemingly haunted lighthouse, and many townsfolk following old gods and sea-related superstitions. Friday night gave these weary travelers a moment to adjust to their new surroundings and acquaint themselves with new- and old- faces. A few met Juno in her tattoo shop, as well as Hal in their noodle nook. As the time grew close to midnight, however, a psionic pall fell over the city, and with it, the warning chime of a deep and onerous bell. The Dominion fleet and the Death Knell had settled not far off-shore, demanding that Bad Axe surrender the Reeve’s sister, Silk– and exchange, they’d only reap “the guilty among you.”
Saturday proved to be a flurry of piratical preparations. One group of wastelanders met the “ghost” of the lighthouse, and with her information rescued Minister General No.Vi from the Dominion. Other groups set sail with the Radiant Company to take the fight straight to the Dominion. And still others pulled off raids to secure and destroy the two halves of Captain Davey’s contract, freeing her crew from their obligations to the Dominion. Even more occurred, from shady meat deliveries to Old God rituals, and investigations into an underwater Dead Zone.
All the while, more and more residents of Bad Axe were turning up cursed with the Reeve’s Black Mark. Those afflicted secretly gathered in a safe house with Silk, under the hopes she could cure the curse, or at least smuggle them to safety before the Reeve made land. Mourners who’d managed to find this safe house worked with Silk to hatch a plan– due to years of exposure to an Old God relic, the Reeve was beyond reasoning with. But perhaps other members of her crew were not out of reach.
All of this led up to the final battle. One team held the battlements of Bad Axe against the encroaching Dominion fleet. Using the battlement’s cannons, their ships were sunk and any foes that tried to scale the walls were dispatched. The brave folks holding the wall even eliminated multiple Predators, the fully-grown form of those pesky parasitic worms. A close call nearly cost the life of one brave scout, but they were saved by their stand-in scoutmaster and the fast thinking of the nearby medics. This team won the night, buying time for a small squad of infiltrators to take the fight directly to the Reeve.
Those courageous souls snuck a small ship close enough to climb aboard the Death Knell, a metal monster of a ship resurrected from wars waged long ago. Making their way successfully through the lower decks, they located the First Mate, Vito Vanta, and appealed to his duty as a faith leader and follower of the Code. Though it pained him to admit that his long-time captain was finally at her wit’s end, he agreed to lead the assassins above deck and hold back the crew so that they could face the Reeve alone. The following fight was brutal, with the Reeve enduring her assailant’s battery through sheer inhuman determination. In her last moments of anguish, she sent out a wave of psionic power capable of killing those unable to swiftly shield their mind. Luckily, a local was able to move their anti-aberrant field in a show of great will, and no casualties but the Reeve were had.
The next day, the Mourners surveyed the damage and packed up their things. The Dominion now has no navy, no general, no curie, and no hope of winning this war. It’s time for their extreme beliefs, and the violence that follows, to stop. It’s time for the Dominion War to end.
DR:MI August Event Content Warnings
Hello Mourners and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the fear and horror we’re throwing your way during this August trade!
Hello Mourners and Travelers! Once again we bring you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the fear and horror we’re throwing your way during this August trade!
Dystopia Rising is by nature a horror and survival larp, and while we DO love to shock and scare your characters, we’d never want to do any actual mental or physical harm to our player base. Please remember it’s always okay to opt out of a scene and walk away, with no penalties or repercussions for you or your character. Player safety is first and foremost. If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!
Below are the elements to expect from this event.
War Crimes - As this is the wrap up of the Dominion war, there are modules that will simulate gruesome scenarios of war. This includes a bioweapon and other crimes of war that may make some uncomfortable.
Parasites - Specifically parasites that host in human bodies and cause harm. This includes elements like eggs, creatures growing within the skin, etc.
Disease - NPCs and/or PCs may become infected with a disease. It is a major part of this month’s plot. Diseases involve coughing up blood, roleplaying malaise, and other social roleplay effects.
Psychological Horror - You may encounter psychological aspects such as extreme fear, gaslighting, paranoia, grief, and more. We encourage players to take a moment after intense scenes to decompress so that you can keep enjoying your game without extreme bleed.
Gore - Mods may include simulated gore. These may involve body horror that may disturb players. Please use the eyes down mechanic if you are uncomfortable at any time.
Fake Drug Use - Mourning Glory is home to many Local Drug Plot Cards. As such, there will be fake drug use and manufacturing seen at this event. We prohibit the use of all actual drugs and alcohol at our events.
Worms - We will have wormlike props.
Violence - NPCs and/or PCs may be subject to acts of fake violence, such as simulated torture. We will never actually put anyone at risk, and all scenes will be using the OK Check-In system to make sure everyone is having a safe and fun time.
Self-Inflicted Harm - PCs may encounter depictions of self harm or suicide. Please remember if a scene becomes too intense, you may always eyes down and opt out.
Player 1 holds the OK hand gesture up to Player 2 (reminder- can be a PC or NPC).
Player 2 has three options:
Thumbs up - “All is good, I’m having a great time.” Continue with the scene.
Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - “I’m not sure.” Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Thumbs down - “I’m not okay/I’m uncomfortable with this scene” - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Based on Player 2’s response, Player 1 should do the following
Thumbs up - Continue with the scene.
Hand flat and moving in an “Eh?” gesture - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Thumbs down - Deescalate the scene, offer to find somewhere to decompress/find a guide or staff to help.
Players are not expected to be therapists. We just ask that you show kindness to your fellow player and assist them in finding somewhere safe at the bare minimum. If there is an issue you need assistance with, Kendall is our Player Relations manager.

If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!
Below are the elements to expect from this event.
Dismemberment - With the introduction of the Sever call and Severed Limb condition, there will be times where your character may come across dismembered body parts- or may be a victim themselves. This mechanic is not intended to be widely used by PCs, so use will be limited to specific mods. That being said, certain locations may also feature body parts in their description-- Gorgers have to eat!
Gore - Alongside dismemberment, there will of course be gore of various types. Please remember that you can always eyes-down of a scene or mod that makes you uncomfortable.
Cannibalism - Like stated before, Gorgers have to eat. You may encounter themes of Strain cannibalism, especially in certain locations.
Animal Death - Dead Zone mods may include mention of sea life and sea bird death.
Fake Drug/Alcohol Use - DR:MI is home to many Local Drug Plot Cards. As such, there will be fake drug use and manufacturing seen at this event. This event also takes place in a wild pirate settlement, and pirates do love to party.
General Crime - Bad Axe is a place only governed by the Code, and the Code has not much to say about most criminal behavior. Expect to see a town of seedy individuals and morally gray situations, even outside of designated Criminal Influence mods
Thumbs up emoji (👍) - Continue with the scene.

What Happened Last Time: May 2023 Event
A cry for help went out across the Lakelands when a terrible mine collapse trapped many underneath Mourning Glory. Fortunately, many heeded the call and came prepared to brave the mines, hard hats in hand.
A cry for help went out across the Lakelands when a terrible mine collapse trapped many underneath Mourning Glory. Fortunately, many heeded the call and came prepared to brave the mines, hard hats in hand.
By Friday night, newcomers had reopened the entrance to the mines, supports were placed around various areas underground to stabilize the treacherous paths, and a few miners were rescued. A new ailment was discovered though- Gravelung disease. It seemed to affect the minds of those infected. Even a Gravelung filled pustule was discovered in the mines and had to be popped. It took quite a toll on those that entered the area to fix it, and more research will have to be done to find a cure.
While folks aided in rescue efforts, Raina of the Superior Trading Company came into town alongside Captain Jack of the Dreadrunners and Captian Davey of the Hollow Hounds. Raina explained that the pirate’s contracts with the STC were ending by the end of the month. Unfortunately, a contract renewal could not be made, and now the pirates may come back untethered by paperwork.
Sightings of Thralls, aptly nicknamed “Meat Men” were seen around town while the Trade progressed. Their appearance and subsequent autopsies proved to be extremely useful when it came to finding a way to defeat them. It seemed they had psi-tech implanted in their brains that allowed General Butcher to control them psionically, and allowed them to heal each other, rendering them almost unkillable. But, these could be removed and thus, the Thralls could be destroyed.
On top of the Thralls, the town still had to deal with attacks from regular Dominion soldiers. Luckily these battles allowed people to collect War Intel Cards, and submit them for various useful clues and items. Interrogations led to further information, such as the Dominion splintering into increasingly desperate groups centered around specific figureheads. Theoretically, if those figurehead are taken out, it might entirely collapse
All of this work led up to the battle against General Butcher, a grotesque and intimidating figure that could not be harmed until his Thralls were killed. Teddy Stirkovof the Red Alliance appeared to aid the fight and rally the town. Surprisingly, so did Minister General No.Vi of Calamity’s Cure and Raff of the Bullet Bag Brothers, though the latter was partially forced to appear. The fight was grueling, and those fighting even had to subdue a friend that had turned against them. But in the end, Mourning Glory won the day.
New threats are on the horizon. Professor Banting still walks Mourning Glory freely and unafraid, as he did on Friday night. A Dead Zone has appeared in a busy area, directly where General Butcher sank. Additionally, it’s been said that Curie Alexandria of the Dominion is on her way. No one knows what challenge she will bring to the town- and if the pirates will side with her or Mourning Glory.

Mind Control - PCs may encounter mind control mechanics. We will never tell you to do something uncomfortable or unsafe.
Water/Splash Mods - There are modules that may take place in the water or involve water elements such as water balloons. PCs are not required to go on these mods and can opt out. There will be a warning if a mod will lead to the possibility of getting wet.
SImulated Artillery/Loud Bangs - With pirates come cannons. We will have simulated artillery fire with sound effects during some modules. Guides will be out to call any artillery damage or effects. If loud noises may disorient or effect you, you may want to opt out of these modules.

Mod Requests and You
So, let’s say you have an idea for a storyline you’d like to pursue at game. In this blog, we will break down the types of plot requests and what to include in your submissions so that we can deliver a satisfying scene for your Master Skill Requests, PFA scenes, and general Action Requests.
So, let’s say you have an idea for a storyline you’d like to pursue at game. Alternatively, your character might have skills (such as Master level Sailing or Criminal) that allow them to make special mod requests. It might even be high time for your character to request a new Professional Focus Achievement!
But what kind of information do the DR:MI writers need from you to successfully complete these kinds of requests? Here, we will break down the types of plot requests and what to include in your submissions so that we can deliver a satisfying scene.
Before we crack into specific requests though, here are some general rules to follow:
Submit your request as early as possible! This will give our story team time to assign and write your request. Ideally, requests are submitted at least one month in advance - anything submitted too late may be denied or delayed until the following event.
Include an appropriate amount of detail, formatted in a way that is as easy to approach as possible. This can be difficult, we know! But think of it like this: when you walk into something like, say, a tattoo shop, most people typically have at least some expectations they need to communicate to the artist. Leaving the artist with no direction can result in not only a lot more conceptual work for them to do, but also anxiety about producing something you’d like! So, even if you aren’t sure exactly what you’d like to happen in the course of your mod, thinking outside the box and answering other types of questions can help a lot. (We’ll dive more into examples for details you can include later on in this post!)
Remember that the story team can deny any requests, or combine multiple mod requests using the same skill into one scene. Requests may be denied because of submission time, ability to run such a scene (theatre of the mind can only go so far), or outlandishness of the request (i.e. suddenly becoming the head of a major financial faction).
With that, let’s get specific!
Master Skill Requests
There are Master level skills within Dystopia Rising: Evolved that allow you to submit requests each month based on that skill. These skills are Master Criminal Influence, Master Financial Influence, Master Sailing, and Master Hunting. Usually, the modules from these requests end with the PCs gaining a tangible economic benefit, such as currency or vouchers that can be used at the relevant skill buylist.
Keep in mind that these requests are not tools to bring out NPCs for personal RP. Each event has many attendees to entertain, so mods will be designed to (hopefully) include and interest appropriately-sized groups of people!
What we want to know:
The Master Skill you’re using
Your character’s goals and hopes for the outcome of this module
What NPCs/creature/faction this scene is interacting with
What you hope to gain out of this scene on an out-of-game level (physically, emotionally, thematically, etc.)

Other players: Cyrus Mercer Anastasia, Cam Nucks, Darby Mercer, Copper Rivetts, Andromeda Langley, Inari Willow, Thomas, Hephaesta D’Gratiot
Character Backstory: Does not tie into a character backstory
Has the Cast involved in this story ever entered play before? Yes

DeeDee has been working with the RAU to build a shelter for refugees
Now, using Master Financial Influence, she would like to talk to the Fords about funding this shelter
Her and the Fords have not been friendly before, but she wants to put her best foot forward and thinks the characters listed could help.
Thomas has a basic membership to the Ford faction, and knows Vic.
What is the focus genre of this module?
Drama
Mystery
Themes:
Money negotiations
War consequences
Guidelines: We would like to convince the Fords to help fund the shelters. We understand this may be a difficult task, and are willing to walk through negotiations. Thomas might have to take the lead at some point.
Would you like to opt into any of the following:
Highly Intense Emotional “Breaking Point” Roleplay
Location: The recreation room on the left side of the lodgext goes here
Professional Focus Achievement Requests
Professional Focus Achievements- or PFAs- is a rank of achievement awarded to a character after experiencing a related “test” in-game. At DR:MI, the goal of these tests is not to gatekeep or be extremely easy to fail- rather, it we hope to encourage players to think about developing RP representative of the PFA, and help them feel as though they accomplished something to achieve the rank that’s a little more exciting and satisfying than buying it off their sheet.
To earn a PFA, your character must first have spent 100 Build in total, have raised the appropriate skill to at least the Proficient level, and be able to spend 10 Build (the cost of a PFA). Then, you can submit a plot request so that writers can craft a scene relevant to that PFA.
What we want to know:
A short description of your character
What kind of goals or struggles have your character currently been dealing with at trades? What’s going on with them - good or bad?
What kind of scene are you interested in?
If you’re not sure about plot specifics, here’s where other details can pick up the slack. For example, what direction of character development do you want to provoke? What themes do you want to explore? What problems does the character care about and want to solve?
What has your character already been doing to work towards this PFA?
What has their journey been like?
Why do you think this PFA suits them?
What does this PFA look like/mean to you?
Any other relevant information you think we should know

Select: Pernicious Savior (Proficient Faithful Spirit)
Plot Request Instructions:
DeeDee is a priestess of the local cult, the Harpies. She loves fighting and is quite positive, but has recently had struggles with her faith.
DeeDee has been struggling to come into her own as a Harpy Priestess alongside Hephaesta. She wants to not be a carbon copy of her friend.
She also does not know who her parent truly is after giving up parentage to Aphrodite
Unbeknowst to her, it is Ares
This module could combine the revelation of her true godly parentage and how she is able to lead her fellow cult members
While Hephaesta is the voice of the cult, DeeDee is the blade. Whether a cult member steps out of line or needs physical protection, she will be there
I’ve been taking inspiration from stories of the Amazons, who in some stories are daughters of Ares, to direct her character behavior.
I am happy to do a mod that is either roleplay or combat heavy.
Action Requests
Sometimes, you just have a module that you want to see run, or want to go on. Or, you may need to perform something like a Mortis procedure, which requires some preparation on the part of game runners. You can submit requests for these reasons too! As long as it works with the story team’s current goals for the event and setting, we will work with you to create something cool.
Again, keep in mind that these requests are not tools to bring out NPCs for personal RP, and will be written so multiple people can participate!
What we want to know:
Your character’s goals and hopes for the outcome of this module
What NPCs/creature/faction this scene is interacting is with, if any
What you hope to gain out of this scene on an out-of-game level (physically, emotionally, thematically, etc.)
Why you would like to see this module in play

They have been searching for a long vacation away from Mourning Glory
Professor Banting is a huge jerk and has sent the Dominion to ruin their vacation
They have to defeat the Dominion with a volleyball match, and then probably deadly force, to vacation in peace
What is the focus genre of this module?
Action
Comedy
Horror (visceral)
Themes
Beach episode
Lighthearted
Maybe a little gory- zombie head as the volleyball?
Guidelines: We would like a fun module to take down Dominion soldiers a notch. This is open to anyone else who wants to join too. We think it would be a bit of fun with all of the horror happening.
Would you like to opt into any of the following:
Splatter Module
Terminal Grade Combat
Voluntary Character Death (Self Only)
Story that Involves Fractures or Disease
Location: A nice grassy field by the water!
We hope that these explanations and examples help with any future Action or PFA requests you have. The story team looks forward to reading your ideas as you grow both your character and their place in the settlement!
What Happened Last Time: March/April 2023 Event
As the Lakeseas thawed from the Great Freeze, the Purebloods in the area looked for entertainment. The Fords sent out a call for champions to participate in the Ides March Games, which not only served the traditions of the Purebloods, but allowed champions the chance to receive a Black and Gold Card. With these, winners could ask factions for almost anything they desired. But first, townsfolk had to retrieve the Grave Guard, laid to rest from November, from the Gravemind. And then a ball!

With these, winners could ask factions for almost anything they desired. But first, townsfolk had to retrieve the Grave Guard, laid to rest from November, from the Gravemind. And then a ball!
Mourning Glory was invited to the Ides Ball, a grand event held in the town. There, townsfolk and travelers mingled and filled their dance cards. Notable folks were present, such as Vic Ford and his personal tailor Maddox, Minister General No.Vi of Calamity’s Cure, and Father Maxwell of St. Mary’s No Kill Shelter. There was even an assassination attempt against Vic Ford- how exciting! Still, everyone was smiling, even with the impending deadly games looming over them.
The next day brought not only the Ides games, but a few visitors to the town. First was ex-Dominion scientist Helen, who had information for Mourning Glory. She led a party to a Dominion science lab, where an experimental injection was used on local Darwin Smudge. Keevan, a Dominion negotiator, came to town to ask for Helen’s release to them in exchange for negotiating an end to the war. When the town denied the request, the Dominion laid waste to Capital City.
Meanwhile, the games were afoot! First, townsfolk had to split into groups and win points by finding items, touching a goal post, or tagging each other in Fortune. Then, a group played a game of suspicion in Betrayal- except the three imposters gave themselves up immediately and were quickly killed. Finally, a large group played Food Chain. Prey ran from Predators while trying to collect glow sticks, all the while both were harassed by Hunters. When the dust finally settled, the town was not pleased with the Fords’ actions.
A group of Mourners came together late Saturday night to write demands to the Fords for a union to be made. They were displeased with being pawns in the games while a war was going on. Local KQC Lead Singer Cadence presented Vic Ford six Black and Gold Cards, donated by various winners, to start negotiations. Now they wait for the Fords to respond.

Body Horror/Gore - Alongside body horror that comes from parasites, we will have other scenes and monsters that include mutilation or damage to the body which might disturb players.
Small/Tight Spaces - With the mine collapse, PCs may have to traverse small and/or tight spaces throughout scenes. We will never put players in actual dangerous or unescapable situations, but please check in with yourself if these will make you uncomfortable.
Dismemberment - PCs may encounter scenes with dismemberment already occurred, or where the PCs have to cause dismemberment using props. Again, we would never put PCs or NPCs in actual harmful situations.
Mind Control - PCs may encounter mind control mechanics. We will never tell you to do something uncomfortable or unsafe.
Splatter/Goop - Alongside body horror and gore, things that splat and goop may be encountered.
Worms - We will have wormlike props that will be fairly gross.
Self Harm - Scenes may force characters or NPCs to harm themselves as well. We realize that players could be triggered by this, and would never want to make anyone feel unsafe. If you are uncomfortable with this aspect, you are of course able to opt-out of the scene, and we will announce when scenes may include this.
We will do our best to give content warnings before the modules these warnings pertain to. Please let us know at dystopiarisingmi@gmail.com if you have any questions and concerns.
With all that said, we can’t wait to bring you safe frights and terror this event! See you soon!
What Happened Last Time: November 2022 Event Recap
Welcome back to Mourning Glory! The big freeze is thawing, and the Lakelands are once again habitable for everyone… and everything. Need a refresher of what happened before Wynter took hold? Worry not, dear Mourner, we have a recap for you.
Welcome back to Mourning Glory! The big freeze is thawing, and the Lakelands are once again habitable for everyone… and everything. Need a refresher of what happened before Wynter took hold? Worry not, dear Mourner, we have a recap for you.
Mourners arrived at Mourning Glory to celebrate a local cult’s holy day: Silent Night. Unlike most holidays, Silent Night was a quiet affair in tending to the Gravemind. As the Gravemind fought its inevitable hibernation, the veil between the Morgue and the living world blurred and strange psionic activity occurred. The Silent put out a call for champions to undergo three separate Gauntlet Trials, choosing a victor from each to be a part of the Grave Guard and stay with the Gravemind for the Wynter. Copper was chosen for the trial of strength, Spencer solved the trial of intelligence, and Willow gave their heart to the trial of compassion. Before the three could start their duties, the Herding of the Echoes had to occur. Townsfolk drew a large sum of Echo zed to the morgue, followed closely behind by the Voiceless Warden. The Warden was a large, protective Echo, and seemed to be there to make sure all went well as Wynter’s Silence took over.
The Grave Guard wasn’t the only task for the town though. Mourners were preparing for a final standoff with the Dominion before the chill took to the town. Folks rescued a Calamity’s Cure scout with valuable information from the Dominion’s grasp, as well as stopping a Dominion raid on the local Darwin consecrated site. Those on the Gauntlet of Compassion met Helen- a Dominion scientist hellbent on achieving her goals- in her own Gravemind scene. Enemy soldiers were caught attempting to infect the soil with radioactive metal, as well as trying to kidnap locals. The tension finally came to a head when the Dominion army showed up to attack the town. After rallying together, Mourners and travelers alike fought their way through the soldiers and took down General Boscogn- some say for good. Rumor has it that Professor Banting, the mastermind behind the Dominion, showed his face for a moment, though it’s not known why.
Unfortunately, Boscogn was not the only casualty of the battle. Doctor Carlisle, a long time friend and ally of Mourning Glory, was killed. Many mourned his loss, and his zed was laid to rest during the Herding of the Echoes.
On Sunday, the community regrouped and said goodbye to those of the Grave Guard. Cult of the Silent leader Hozannah and new Graverobber Lt. Pawn led a ceremony to put the three into a near-hibernative state. They were peacefully laid to rest in the Gravemind, sworn to protect her until it was time to open her doors.
And now, it is time.

Hello Mourners and Travelers! It’s a new year, which means it’s time for new horrors. Thus, we’re bringing you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the fear and horror we’re throwing your way during this March/April trade!
Hello Mourners and Travelers! It’s a new year, which means it’s time for new horrors. Thus, we’re bringing you a content warning post, so you’re out-of- game prepared for all of the fear and horror we’re throwing your way during this March/April trade!
Dystopia Rising is by nature a horror and survival larp, and while we DO love to shock and scare your characters, we’d never want to do any actual mental or physical harm to our playerbase Please remember it’s always okay to opt out of a scene and walk away, with no penalties or repercussions for you or your character. Player safety is first and foremost. If you have any questions or concerns after reading this blog, let us know!
Below are the elements to expect from this event.
Parasites - Specifically parasites that host in human bodies and cause harm. This includes elements like eggs, creatures growing within the skin, etc.
Worms - We will have wormlike props that will be fairly gross.
Disease - NPCs and/or PCs may become infected with a disease. It is a major part of this month’s plot. Diseases involve coughing up blood, roleplaying malaise, and other social roleplay effects.
CVC Scenarios - During this trade, there will be games that may force your character to cause harm to other characters. We always encourage the use of CVC check-ins during these points to make sure everyone is having a good time, and you are able to opt-out if you ever become uncomfortable.
Psychological Horror - The deadly games being played may push your character, even breaking themselves in the process. You may encounter psychological aspects such as extreme fear, gaslighting, paranoia, grief, and more. We encourage players to take a moment after intense scenes to decompress so that you can keep enjoying your game without extreme bleed.
Torture - NPCs and/or PCs may be subject to fake torture. We will never actually put anyone at risk, and all scenes will be using the OK Check-In system to make sure everyone is having a safe and fun time.
Body Horror - Alongside body horror that comes from parasites, we will have other scenes of mutilation or damage to the body that might disturb players.
Entrapment - Your characters may be tricked into committing a crime or horrible act. We would never have a player commit a real world crime or dangerous act, and we encourage players to use the check-in system if they are concerned. This also means your character being physically trapped in a room or space. If you have claustrophobia or any other concern about this, feel free to let a guide know. We want you to feel safe!
Fake Drug Use - Mourning Glory is home to many Local Drug Plot Cards. As such, there will be fake drug use and manufacturing seen at this event. We prohibit the use of all actual drugs and alcohol at our events.
Debt/Imprisonment - This event is about clearing debts, whether for yourself or another, and how far you’re willing to go to do so. Some NPCs may be in extreme debt, or imprisoned for perceived crimes. We recognize this can mirror players real lived experiences, so we want to give a warning that you may come across such content.
Please remember you can always OPT OUT of a scene using ‘Eyes Down’ - placing your hand over your brow and looking down to signal you are leaving a scene for any reason, no questions asked. You may also ask a guide on scene to help find you somewhere to decompress.

Beyond the Culinary Station: Eating at DR:MI
Going to a larp event can be intimidating, even more so when you don’t know how you’re going to feed yourself. Is there a kitchen? Or is your only heating option a campfire? What options will keep you energized? While we’ve gone over our cooking amenities and rules in the past with our Cooking FAQ, we wanted to provide some further insight and tips on how to keep yourself fueled throughout the weekend.

What options will keep you energized? While we’ve gone over our cooking amenities and rules in the past with our Cooking FAQ, we wanted to provide some further insight and tips on how to keep yourself fueled throughout the weekend.
Incorporating Meals Into Your Game Time
Before we dive into options that will keep you going during the weekend, we want to talk about why it’s important to make sure you’re prepared. Have you ever accidentally skipped a meal and found yourself hungry, maybe with headaches, tiredness, nausea, even irritability? It sucks! Now imagine compounding that with running through the woods, getting smacked with foam weapons, or being in an emotional roleplay scene. You probably won’t be having as much fun as you could be.
Eating can easily be pushed to the backburner when you have so much you want to accomplish over the weekend. We like to keep you busy at DR:MI! But, hunger can really mess with your emotions and physical wellbeing, and that can poorly affect your game. That’s why it’s so important to take time out of your day and have a meal. There’s many ways to incorporate your meal times while you’re playing.
You can take a break and eat while sitting in the Trophy Room and regaining Body.
Take a moment to sit with another PC, and have some roleplay over a bowl of spaghetti loops. This is a great time to use Proficient Social Influence and cure some fractures!
Plan an in-character potluck with other players and have a feast! Worried about baddies interrupting? Take turns keeping watch- but make sure everyone gets a chance to eat.
Need to cook? Ask someone to sit with you. This is also a great opportunity to roleplay and have personal moments with other PCs.
Take a moment to sit in a quiet place and eat. A pause like this can really help you regroup and re-energize mentally out of game.
On NPC shift? Ask your Ops guide for a meal break. We never want you to feel bad during your shift, so if you need to recharge with some food, just let someone know!
There are even more ways to incorporate eating into your weekend that doesn’t break up your game. Consider setting a timer if it’ll help you remember meal times. It’s also important to note that while genreing your food containers is appreciated, it is not in any way required. We are more concerned about you eating than what the can you’re eating from looks like. It can not be emphasized how important it is to take moments and give your body the fuel it needs to continue playing. When you feel good, you have more fun!
Easy Meals and Snacks
So we’ve gone over when to eat, but that leaves us with what to eat. The best answer: make it simple. A grand meal sounds great in practice, but when you’ve been cooking for two hours while watching everyone fight NPCs, it can be a mood killer. Here are some easy eats for you to consider.
Snacks
Apples
String Cheese
Granola Bars- I love you all but this cannot be your only source of food
Trail Mix (Peanut Free for DR:MI)
Pretzels
Goldfish/Cheez-Its
Baby Carrots and Ranch
Jerky
Dried Fruits (bananas, apricots, raisins, etc.)
Chocolate (this is very helpful for keeping blood sugar up)
Breakfast
Oatmeal (Microwave or use the hot water tap from the coffee machine)
Donuts
Bagels/Toast (We have a toaster!)
Fruit- apples, bananas, oranges, etc
Yogurt
Have a griddle? Bacon and hash brown patties are easy to flip and eat.
Extra: Consider bringing coffee creamer to put in the provided coffee!
No Prep Foods
Bagged salad
Pre-packaged pasta salad
Coleslaw
A baguette or loaf of fresh bread- tear off pieces throughout the day for a carb lift
Microwave Meals
Microwave cups (Mac & Cheese, Ravioli, Soups, etc)
Spaghettios
Pre-made soup
Pre-cooked hot dogs (hot tip: put microwave mac & cheese on them for a delicious twist!)
Freezer meals (Lean Cuisines, Stouffers, etc)
Ramen cups (hot tip- use the hot water from the coffee machine)
Mini frozen pizzas
Melt cheese in a tortilla for a simple quesadilla
Melt cheese on tortilla chips for nachos, then just add salsa or guac!
Easy Meals for Griddles, Crock Pots, and Rice Cookers
Grilled Cheese
Hot Dogs
Soups (pre-make them and bring in tupperware for no at game prep)
Rice is a great carb to keep your energy up
Beverages
DRINK WATER. Have a dedicated water bottle, even if it’s a disposable plastic one you keep refilling!
Use electrolyte packets like Liquid IV or drink sports beverages like Gatorade to keep your PH levels balanced
Juice is a great source of natural sugar
Bring a few cans of pop or energy drinks for caffeine and/or sugar. Just don’t overdo it with these, as they can dehydrate you too!
Take advantage of the provided coffee and hot chocolate!
There are many more options to explore as well, so ask around the community and see what you can find! You may find a group that does a meal plan and be able to buy into it. You can get your own stock of food and split the cost with a friend to lower the bill. There’s also the possibility that someone will be cooking for in-game currency. There’s a lot of choices when it comes to eating at an event, so consider your options, and please don’t only drink Monsters!
The Ides of March: To the Victors Go the Spoils
The Ides of March is a long-standing Pureblood tradition of playing a game of bloody political chess. The leaders of Pureblood-led communities host a series of deadly competition ‘Games’ that anyone can enter to win a key that unlocks three potential prizes.
The Ides of March
The Ides of March is a long-standing Pureblood tradition of playing a game of bloody political chess. The leaders of Pureblood-led communities host a series of deadly competition ‘Games’ that anyone can enter to win a key that unlocks three potential prizes. This ‘holiday’ of sorts presents an opportunity to shape the political landscape of the Lakesea in the coming year, and has traditionally been held as a time for negotiation, contracts, settling debts… and revenge.
The Winning Ticket
Upon winning any of the Ides Games, all victors will be granted a Black and Gold Card. This Card may be traded to another player or NPC, bought or sold. BGCs can be stolen or looted from you, so keep them safe if you have one!
Only one BGC can be turned in per player. If you win multiple Games and end up with multiple BGCs, you may wish to sell or trade your extras, or work with allies to hand in BGCs strategically to accomplish your goals - or use them to hamper your political enemies!
To use a BGC, hand it to the leader of your chosen faction and declare which of the three options you want it used for. You can do this via mail or in person, from Saturday 8AM to Game Off Sunday.
Faction leaders cannot reject being presented with a BGC, but they can negotiate regarding the specific terms and applications of what you ask for them to do.
Remember: Face NPCs are living people in this world just like you are, with their own secrets, goals, motivations, and feelings. These negotiations will vary in scope by your pre-existing relationship with these NPCs.
If the Faction Leader is physically unable to accomplish or fulfill what they ask you to do, they can refuse your request and point you to another Face NPC who may be able to help you. Your BGC will not be expended if this happens.
Faction Leaders can set a price for the Favor you request from them, freely. For example, One BGC may be sufficient to ask the Fords for 200 Overs, but if you ask the Fords to eliminate a town law as your Favour, they have the right to request up to 10 BGCs to accomplish that goal.
BGCs cannot be used to request any character commit suicidal or genocidal actions.
Overall, the Storytelling team will be working with you to realize your character’s goals and wants! We might have to adjust things to fit, but we would love for you to be creative here and see what you can accomplish. If you have any questions, please contact the Story Director!
What You Can Win
Gain Favor
A favor is essentially a carte blanche for ‘anything you want’ from any Mourning Glory faction. You may simply ask for large sums of money or big-ticket items. You may ask for a monthly shipment of a resource you need. You may ask for financial support of a project. You may ask for a Faction to take political action against another. You may ask for a higher rank or position within a faction. You can ask for a record to be deleted or a historical record to be expunged. The possibilities are endless - hence why the Ides of March is so important to setting up the political landscape of Mourning Glory for the next year.
You may not gain Favor on behalf of someone else, but multiple people can combine BGCs to ask for a larger Favor. Ask the Faction Leaders for their prices.
Examples:
Ask for classified information, documents or secrets. Factions must provide you with truthful information!
Ask for a cause or project of yours to be backed by a particular faction fiscally or politically.
Ask for monetary rewards of any kind. You may choose to, for example, turn in (item) to receive a series of augmented Master Weapons from the Bullet Bag Brothers, or financial payouts from Ford Industries. Whatever you can imagine, will be provided. (Note: Please be realistic and keep in mind everyone’s fun - we don’t have the physical resources to grant you a million Overs, for example.)
Ask for changes to Town Laws, or the creation of a new role in town.
Clear Debt
If you are in debt to any faction in Mourning Glory or the Greater Lakesea, a BGC can be used to clear that debt. Present the holder of your debt with a BGC, and they will be legally bound to cancel your debt. This debt does not have to be monetary in value. It can be a debt of Infection, allegiance, employment, and so on.
You may clear debt on behalf of someone else.
Examples:
Many people seem to owe SaintCorp an Infection for some of their restorative services…
Plenty of local small businesses and individuals find themselves in debt to the Ford Family, and will be looking for competitors to help them clear this debt so they don’t go under.
Some folks may have slighted a faction or cost them supplies. They may be looking for a way to call their attack dogs off.
There are workers in the Mines, they say, who are still working off a debt their parents incurred before them. Injured or sick Miners might be looking for a way out of their contracts so they can recuperate.
Criminal Purposes
The Ides of March tends to attract the less than savory types in Mourning Glory who might be looking to expunge a record of past actions. A BGC can be used to clear your criminal record, so whatever Faction you have gotten in some hot water with over the past year will have to clear your slate with them and hold no bad blood… till you mess up again, of course.
A BGC can also be used to further your criminal goals in creative ways. You may trade in BGCs to request hitmen and targeted killings. Be aware that if this is levied against a fellow Player Character, you will be opting into CvC - always be aware of your limits and what you’re willing to risk.
You may clear a criminal record on behalf of someone else.
Examples:
Been convicted of a crime? Arrested by the Neighbourly Association? Perhaps more than once, even? Well, all you have to do is turn in one (item) and every misdeed of the past year will be expunged. NPC groups will act as if you have never done anything wrong in their eyes, so you have a chance to start fresh.
Currently on trial or in prison? Win a game, turn in a (item) and you’re a free man.
Deal in illegal weapons or drugs? Win a game, turn in a (item), and maybe you can convince the Neighbourly Association to simply not look at your trade routes in the coming year.
Are you one of those nasty little Crystal Candy dealers? Maybe you need your covert operation of turning in Aberrants to get a little easier with some help from a Faction…
